Meet new Gi2C Finance Intern Tomas from Italy and Argentina!

b2ap3_thumbnail_image002_20150116-073023_1.jpg Before becoming a new Gi2C finance intern in China, Tomas studied economics and international politics in Italy and Switzerland. Over the past three decades, he has had the opportunity to live in different countries, which provided him with an interesting perspective on life. Tomas will be interning in Shanghai at a finance company. He told us he can draw upon previous work experience in the field but looks forward to learning about China and getting more of the necessary financial know-how that all astute finance professionals need. Tomas chose China because he has friends that have worked here and they said great things about working in Shanghai. He stumbled upon the Gi2C website by accident – isn’t life full of interesting coincidences! Tomas feels comfortable in China because he has a family member living here. He also is fearless to live abroad because he has lived in numerous countries before which is...

Meet Tahnoon, a new Gi2C Intern from Abu Dhabi

b2ap3_thumbnail_image001_20150113-075820_1.jpg Tahnoon grew up in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Along with China, this Middle Eastern country has also developed a great deal in a short period of time. Tahnoon told us, “The country was changing so fast that it felt like it was growing up with me.” In only 22 years, Tahnoon has learned English, Bengali, and Hindi along with “slightly broken French and a bit of Arabic”. He studied Business and Economics in London since his friends and brother were also there. So what brought him to China? Tahnoon chose China because “China is leading the world in terms of finance and has recently overtaken the U.S. as the world’s largest economy (in terms of PPP). Experience from China would be invaluable for the start of any career. Also, China is a beautiful country, I hear.” He learned a little bit about China ahead of time from other friends who had...

Michael’s internship in Shanghai, China

b2ap3_thumbnail_image002_20141212-064404_1.jpg Michael is from Copenhagen, Denmark, which is unique for its paid education, snowy winter, and the Little Mermaid in Tivoli. Those of us with school loans are suddenly thinking about moving to Denmark, right? Some interesting things he has done in the past 26 years have been sky diving, bungee jumping, and getting a master’s degree in Sydney, Australia. Michael is clearly not afraid of trying new things and adventure! Those two qualities are exactly what all new visitors to China need to have. He has a bachelor’s in Business Engineering and undertook an MBA to challenge himself and learn English. Michael is interning in the consulting industry in Shanghai and hopes to learn as much as possible about working in a professional company as well as working in a different country and culture. As with many of our Gi2C interns, Michael hopes to make a good impression on the company...
