From Japan to China, Erika interns at a start-up

b2ap3_thumbnail_image1_20150311-062329_1.png
I’m from Tokyo, Japan. I was born and grew up in Niigata prefecture, which is considered the countryside in Japan. My parents raised me to develop my curiosity and to not be afraid of a challenge. They never ever said “no” to what I tried to do (unless it was illegal, might hurt the others or was immoral).  Looking back on my life, I have experiences of failures, but I don’t have any regrets that I didn’t do something because my parents said no.  I have just turned 22. My life is somehow strongly connected with social innovation and overseas. After I entered university 4 years ago, I was working for the biggest worldwide student organization called AIESEC for 3 years. I supported Japanese university students who are willing to do their internship overseas by consulting and developing our products. I learned how much making an impact on each person...

b2ap3_thumbnail_image002_20150116-073023_1.jpg
Before becoming a new Gi2C finance  intern in China, Tomas studied economics and international politics in Italy and Switzerland. Over the past three decades, he has had the opportunity to live in different countries, which provided him with an interesting perspective on life. Tomas will be interning in Shanghai at a finance company. He told us he can draw upon previous work experience in the field but looks forward to learning about China and getting more of the necessary financial know-how that all astute finance professionals need. Tomas chose China because he has friends that have worked here and they said great things about working in Shanghai. He stumbled upon the Gi2C website  by accident – isn’t life full of interesting coincidences! Tomas feels comfortable in China because he has a family member living here. He also is fearless to live abroad because he has lived in numerous countries before...

Intern Final Testimonial – Ben R.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image002_20140722-051616_1.jpg
When we first interviewed Ben 6 months ago , he had just arrived in China and was about to start his internship in the renewable energy industry in Shanghai. For his internship, Ben was responsible for the UK and Irish markets. His role was to develop relationships with companies in these markets as well as support them in their sales and marketing activities. Let’s find out what Ben took away from his time and internship in China. “What surprised me most about the internship was the working conditions. Compared to Europe, they are very poor. We were expected to use our own equipment and a poor connection to the internet made carrying out my duties difficult. However, my internship helped improve my communication skills in both written and spoken format. My teamwork has also improved due to being part of a multinational department. Chinese business culture  is very different from...

b2ap3_thumbnail_image001_20140521-044959_1.jpg
"I am 24 years old and grew up in Villers-Perwin, Belgium. Arthur Grumiaux (a famous violinist) was born in my city. I studied Public Relations at HELHa in Fleurus and will be interning in Shanghai . From what I've heard, my job will be to build up a large network here with high level company managers and establish good relationships with entrepreneurs in the local communities. I will understand the filtration industry more and know how to help with improving the quality of air and water. I chose China to do my internship because China is one of the most powerful countries in the world. The Chinese people are at the center of the business world today. So it's the perfect place to do an internship abroad . I travel a lot so I wasn't afraid to start a new adventure in a new place. My family didn't believe me...
