Interning with an international finance company in Beijing

b2ap3_thumbnail_image001_20140912-112529_1.jpg Yessenia’s family hails from Carazo, Nicaragua. She told us that the thing she enjoys most about her hometown is nature and the beautiful environment. One of the most interesting things she has done in her twenty-two years on this earth is riding a bull when she was little because her father used to own a farm. Yessenia moved to California to study Business and recently graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing. She chose to study in San Francisco because it is where she was born, and she loves the city! She decided to go do an internship in China because the culture is very different from the culture in Nicaragua and the United States, so she wanted to learn more and this is what attracted her to intern in China. She will be interning with an international finance company in Beijing...

Wish list: Applying from Vietnam to win a free China internship!

Ngoc Khanh from Vietnam applied for China internship with Gi2C I graduated from The Faculty of Economics, Nong Lam University (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting in 2011, and have recently graduated from Master of Science in Finance of Bangor University, North Wales, The United Kingdom. I especially have interest in International Financial Markets, Investment Strategy and Portfolio Management, Financial Engineering and Modelling, and Financial Analysis. After completing the final step of my master's degree, while most of friends congratulated me on this, a friend told me that it has not finished yet; it is the beginning of the new journey – the most difficult stage of life – to find a job. Due to the fact that the global economy has been growing rapidly, the required calibre of human resource becomes higher. The requirements tend to be more severe, as some companies reduce their workforce, while some new companies entering the market want to hire...

Wish list: Applying from the UK to win an internship in China!

applying from UK for an internship in ChinaDear Sir/Madam, An opportunity to work in mainland China within the finance industry;  specifically the investment banking sector as a quantitative analyst would as Getin2China explained so eloquently “will put my international career on steroids”. I am currently studying at the University of York, UK where I am in my second year of an undergraduate masters degree in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics. As you may know studying Mathematical Science or Economics at a top 10 institution in the bare minimum required for one to enter investment banking (in any country) as an analyst or quantitative analyst. It is clear I need networks and international experience to compete in a global market like the one which we are in today. An internship in China is incomparable to any other international internship. The amount of knowledge one can attain coupled with the surreal experiences will give me an insight into how international markets...

Wish list: Jeannette - Applying for a free China Internship!

My name is Jeannette and I have learned what it takes to have ambition.  I knew at a young age I never wanted to go to college because at eleven years old my mom got injured at work and it quickly down spiraled into something much worse.  Within a few short months she developed reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), a complicated nerve disorder that causes pain and slow deterioration of the body. We also never foresaw the coupling diseases that would add on over the years. I grew up so fast and I pushed away people because I no longer was able to connect on a fun and interesting level with people my age. So I put on a façade and took on a job to try to help my family. We fought and watched my mother go in and out of hospitals and knock on deaths door a few too many...

Learning Mandarin Chinese with Gi2C: A Student's Perspective

No matter what anyone else may tell you, learning Mandarin Chinese in a classroom in your home country is very hard. The words sound totally different. The way Chinese characters look on the page is totally different. Few people outside of the classroom in my hometown speak Chinese, so I had no way to practice my skills. I knew I needed to learn the language, but I just wasn't getting it. I am so thankful that I found Gi2C (Getin2China), because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have learned Chinese any other way.I took some time away from school and I went to China with Gi2C. I enrolled in a small class full of other students who also didn't speak Mandarin Chinese very well. We had an amazing teacher, and she spent a lot of time just coaching us and talking to us about the lessons. Things really started to click when...

How Getin2China (Gi2C) Helped Me Learn Chinese

When I was in school, I kept hearing about how important China was, and how that economy was going to grow and grow, and perhaps even eclipse the economy of the United States. I figured that I had better learn the language, so I could stay competitive in the business world. I took a few Mandarin Chinese language classes in my school, but to be honest, I wasn't learning as quickly as I thought I should. I had no opportunity to practice outside of the classroom, and I just felt like the lessons didn't stick. One night, I was browsing the Internet, looking for tutors, books or anything that might give me a little bit of help. I started seeing references to www.Gi2C.org. Other students kept talking about the Mandarin Chinese language program; how much they learned and how much fun they had while they were studying. I don't like to...
