Meet Annie-Mei from Canberra, Australia – New Gi2C Intern in Beijing 798

b2ap3_thumbnail_image001_20140904-055219_1.jpg Hi Annie-Mei! Tell us a little about yourself. I live in Canberra, Australia now but growing up I lived on the Gold Coast in Queensland right next to the beach. We used to go surfing in primary school for summer sport because we could walk across the road from school to the beach. I am 22 years old. Some exciting things I’ve done so far in life… I've been to a music festival in Serbia called EXIT, seen an active volcano on the island of Hawaii and was in Barcelona when Spain won the Eurocup final in 2012. I studied a Bachelor of Arts at the Australian National University majoring in Chinese (Mandarin) and Art History. I studied Chinese in high school and decided to continue with it. As for Art History, I came across it by accident when I took an Art History course as an elective. I really...

At a young 21 years of age, Joel has just completed a year's placement in one of the top multinational companies in the world, General Electric (GE). Intern Final Testimonial – Ben R.

b2ap3_thumbnail_image002_20140722-051616_1.jpgWhen we first interviewed Ben 6 months ago, he had just arrived in China and was about to start his internship in the renewable energy industry in Shanghai. For his internship, Ben was responsible for the UK and Irish markets. His role was to develop relationships with companies in these markets as well as support them in their sales and marketing activities. Let’s find out what Ben took away from his time and internship in China. “What surprised me most about the internship was the working conditions. Compared to Europe, they are very poor. We were expected to use our own equipment and a poor connection to the internet made carrying out my duties difficult. However, my internship helped improve my communication skills in both written and spoken format. My teamwork has also improved due to being part of a multinational department. Chinese business culture is very different from my own. During...

Shanghai Intern Joe from Canada

b2ap3_thumbnail_Untitled.png Joe F. recently landed in China, let's see what he thinks about his new internship adventure! I am from Vancouver but I also grew up in Calgary, Canada. Vancouver possesses an allencompassing geography ranging from mountainous terrain to sandy beaches thus providing an enriching active lifestyle. Growing up in Calgary was fantastic due to the huge amount of snowfall you get during a prolonged winter season and good old quality Alberta beef! I am 25 years young turning 26 end of this year. Something interesting I’ve done so far is being fortunate enough to have traveled to various places in North America and China such as: Seattle, L.A., Chicago, Toronto, Shanghai, Nanjing, and more. I still intend to tackle Europe in the coming years. I studied at Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts in the Faculty of Communications, Arts & Technology. (FCAT). I chose to study Communications because...
