I am from LeMars, Iowa, USA. While growing up, I was involved in many organizations such as Boy Scouts and 4-H. I am currently 22 years old and have had the opportunity to travel many places. Over the last 4 years, I completed college at Iowa State University with a major in Finance and Accounting.
I will be interning at a network finance company in Beijing. My job description includes investor relations, customer service, and supporting the business development and sales teams. I hope to expand my professional network through this internship and learn more about financial markets in China. I am very interested in learning the cultural differences in financial positions in the US and China.
Working in China has interested me for the last few years. China is a diverse landscape and its economy has expanded quickly. I do not have many contacts in China and hope to meet many new people during the internship. Before making my decision to live and work in China, I read into other travelers’ experiences in China and liked what I learned. My family has hosted foreign exchange students from all over the world and it has allowed me to see many different cultures. Now going to China, I have an open mind and I'm looking forward to trying many new things.
Packing for China should be easy after learning what to bring from friends that have traveled to China. Gi2C has made it easy to obtain and know what documents to pack.
My family has been very supportive of my decision to intern in China. They understand the great benefits of living and working in a foreign country. I have traveled a lot in the past and now adapt quickly to new locations. I will not be traveling with any friends but hope to make friends quickly when I arrive in China. I will miss my friends and family the most although it will allow me to try many new things during my adventure in Beijing.
