Gi2C & Santa Claus bring a Merry Christmas to Chinese Orphans

While billions of people around the world celebrated Christmas by opening presents and eating good food with family, Gi2C's interns also had an enjoyable Christmas day by spreading holiday cheer to 100 Chinese orphans in ShunYi District of Beijing.  Interns and employees from Lewin International invited Santa Claus (a Gi2C manager) from the North Pole to fly in and join the fun.

Santa spent time chatting with each of the kids and asked their names, where they were from and whether they had been "naughty or nice". If they gave him the right answer (which they all did), Santa rewarded them with chocolates and gifts such as kites and games.

Most of the kids had never met a real live Santa Claus before and they had endless questions about how the reindeer can fly, where does Santa park his sled, and what subway line goes to the North Pole!  Gi2C's interns played basketball with the boys and skipped rope with the girls.

The kids were overjoyed to have visitors and asked the Gi2C team to stay. But as the sun began  to set, our volunteers had to head home for the two hour journey  back to downtown Beijing. "It was great fun," Gi2C volunteer Cheryl said as she fought back some tears. "These kids have only love and they do not hesitate to share it with us. I was really moved by our visit  today."  More information about the orphanage can be found at www.bjgaxx.cn. The Beijing  Light & Love Orphanage has been operating 10 years with a staff of six volunteer teachers and its director Wang Xian Long  who lost his own family in a fire in Anhui Province many years ago. Gi2C is now looking for NGO interns to reside with these orphans for three months and teach them English, Art, Dance, Sports and Music. These are non-paid three month internships but meals and housing are provided. If you are interested and would like to spread the holiday cheer throughout the entire year by bringing joy to these wonderful kids, please send an email to Info@Gi2C.org.
