Yuri Khlystov, co-founder of Get in2 China, was recently featured on China Radio International’s Expat Tales, where he delivered his pitch as to why it’s fabulous to intern in China.
“After spending time in Europe and the US, I realize that there’s probably more opportunities in Asia. Besides, China was a country I admired since childhood,” Yuri tells host Jules Page.
And so after having studied and worked in both Europe and America, Yuri set off for China.
“The first time it was more about traveling, checking around, picking up some language.”
After attending some networking events (which are never in short supply here in Beijing), Yuri met his future business partner Ben. The two put their heads together, exchanged a few ideas and decided to start a business helping students and graduates find opportunities in China.
Get in2 China was born.
“I’ve been an intern myself. I pretty much understand how hard it is to find some opportunities in some new places,” says Yuri.
When asked whether China is the country of choice to do an internship over the US and Europe, Yuri says he is adamant it is.
“China, with its growing market, is trying to approach foreigners and foreign markets and establish partnerships with companies in the west (and elsewhere). So, they really need some talented, young, motivated people.”
