We all get a little bit nervous from time to time, especially on the first day of an internship placement. Yet Hyun Jung Kim, a new intern having just arrived from South Korea, handled her internship introduction with poise and maturity.
Having studied Marketing in both South Korea and the United Kingdom, Kim was prepared to tackle her next challenge - an internship in Beijing, China with Reed Exhibitions.
As a Sino-UK joint venture, Reed Exhibitions is one of the world's leading event organizers with over 50 years of unrivaled experience in developing, selling, marketing, and producing exhibitions throughout the world. The company has a growing portfolio of more than 500 events in 39 countries. Their China branch organizers close to 55 exhibitions around China annually.
Reed Enterprises offers a variety of internships in fields such as: Marketing, Sales, and Finance. In 2011, six million active participants attended events put on by Reed Exhibitions. Currently, they are working on organizing a huge golf exhibition, a project that Kim is really looking forward to contributing to.
On the way to her placement, I asked Kim about her motives for moving to China and previous internship experience. She told me that she found China to be an extremely interesting place which is obviously growing at a very fast rate. This is not Kim's first stint as an intern; she previously interned for a company in South Korea, though the position was in an entirely different industry. This is Kim's opportunity to make her mark and she hopes that she will be able to parlay this internship experience in China to find a job in Hong Kong after the completion of her program.
She seemed comfortable from the moment she stepped inside the office doors and received a warm welcome from our company contact.
We are confident that Kim will excel during her time at Reed Exhibitions and wish her nothing but continued success as she advances her career.
